Hi,
If the engine doesn't reach operating temperature, yes, the thermostat may be stuck open. That will reduce heat. Also, if the coolant is low, that too can cause it. Make sure it isn't low. Also, it is common for a leak to be at the coolant temperature sensor.

Now, the temperature sensor on these is a bit unique. If you follow the radiator hose to the driver's side of the engine compartment, you will see the sensor. (See pic 10 below) What makes it unique is the way it is mounted. There is a plastic clip shaped like a U that holds it in place. (See pic 11) That needs gently removed and then the sensor will pull out. Make sure to remove the old O-ring and lubricate the new one with coolant before you install it. I had to go online to find some pics. I attached them below. They are the last two pics.
Since you need to drain the coolant for either of these procedures, I would replace both at the same time.
