Good evening.

There is no computer control relay. Power is provided from the ignition switch through the fuse block both in the run mode and also with the key off.

Can you tell me your exact issue so I can help?

I replaced the PCM to my car. Now having problems with the relearn process for the theft system. However, I got the car to turn on. But only if I jump it from the starter relay in fuse box. However while car is on I will then go turn on the push start button and it shuts off the car. If I try and start with push start button keeps saying starting disabled theft problem. I saw a computer control relay for sale online for 2005 Cadillac STS is why I was asking about that. By any chance you know what the problem is?

Okay.

Below is the procedure for the key relearn. Follow the instructions.

Roy

PROGRAMMING THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM COMPONENTS (DOMESTIC)

IMPORTANT:
- When replacing an engine control module (ECM) with a GM SPO replacement part, ensure the procedure to setup a new ECM is performed prior to the 10-minute relearn procedure or the 30-minute relearn procedure.
- When replacing an ECM with a GM SPO replacement part, the new ECM will learn the incoming password of the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) immediately upon the next ignition switch from OFF to CRANK. An ECM which had been installed in another vehicle will have learned the theft deterrent password of another vehicles RCDLR. Perform either the 10-minute relearn procedure or the 30-minute relearn procedure to learn the password of the current vehicles RCDLR.

10-Minute Relearn Procedure
Use this procedure after replacing any of the following components:
- The RCDLR
- The ECM

1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.

IMPORTANT:
- When replacing either the RCDLR or the ECM and the 10-minute relearn procedure is used, ensure that the appropriate calibration is selected for the replacement component on the calibration selection screen of the service programming system.
- When replacing a RCDLR with a GM SPO replacement part, ensure the procedure to setup a new control module is performed prior to the 10-minute relearn procedure.

2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. Ensure that all power consuming devices are turned OFF on the vehicle.
4. With a scan tool, select Request Info. Under Service Programming System and follow the scan tool on-screen instructions.
5. Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle and connect the scan tool to a Techline Terminal with the current Service Programming System (SPS) software.
6. On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions. Ensure the correct programming procedure is selected based on component being replaced or programmed. See IMPORTANT above.
7. Disconnect the scan tool from the Techline Terminal and re-connect the scan tool to the vehicle.
8. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
9. With a scan tool, select Program ECU under Service Programming System.
10. At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10-minute relearn procedure.
11. Observe the scan tool. After approximately 10 minutes the scan tool will display "Programming Successful, Turn OFF Ignition". The vehicle is now ready to relearn the key fob information and/or the passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.

IMPORTANT:
- The scan tool will initially display 12 minutes. The first 2 minutes allow the scan tool to initialize the appropriate control module. The remaining 10 minutes is the relearn timer.
- On some vehicles the SECURITY telltale may be illuminated on steady for the duration of the 10-minute relearn procedure.

12. Turn OFF the ignition and wait 5 seconds.
13. Start the vehicle. The ECM has now learned the RCDLR password.
14. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.

30-Minute Relearn Procedure
Use this procedure after replacing any of the following components:
- The RCDLR
- The ECM
1. Press the START button.

IMPORTANT:
- This procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with EXPORT configured modules.
- When replacing a RCDLR with a GM SPO replacement part, ensure the procedure to setup a new control module is performed prior to the 30-minute relearn procedure.

2. Observe the Security telltale. After approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.
3. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.
5. Start the vehicle. The ECM has now learned the RCDLR password.

IMPORTANT: The vehicle learns the passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

6. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.

No code reader. You need a real scan tool such as Tech 2 or snap on. They are advanced scan tools. It would be cheaper to have someone do this for you as these tools cost thousands of dollars.

One last question. Think my wiring may be affecting it too. Do you know if a 2003 Cadillac STS under the dash wire harness fits a 2005 Cadillac STS?

Cylinder eight misfire. Car sounds like it is gasping for air. Would that not be fuel injector rather than ignition coil?

Cylinder misfire could be:

1. Spark plug.
2. Ignition coil or wire.
3. Vacuum leak.
4. Fuel injector or related wiring.
5. Low compression.

All these need to be checked.

If car sits without being turned on for about five days, battery dies. However if it is turned on daily or at least every three days, battery is fine. My guess is that something small is staying on in the car and draining the battery. However someone suggested that it is the alternator that is draining battery. So my question is if it is actually possible for alternator to drain a battery while car is off? Car turns on and runs fine when battery is charged.

Possible but not likely.

You need to remove the negative cable and put an amp meter in line with the cable and the battery. Let the car sit for about one hour. Then check the draw in amps and it should read between 50-75 milli amps.

If it is more than that, start removing the fuses one by one until the draw drops. That will identify the circuit that is causing the draw. Then you need to go the whatever is on that circuit and find out what has failed.

It is okay, just do the check and see what draw you have in the system.
