Car wouldn't start, while looking under hood I put my hand on coil pack and it was extremely hot. Took it off and it had melted. Bought a new one getting crank but no spark and coil pack is still getting very hot when car not even warm. I have to unhook the positive off battery.

Hello, did you replace the ignition module that sits under the coils?

The ignition module controls all the coils, if the new coils are overheating there is probably a fault with the module. Most of the time we've replaced the module and coils at the same time. There's a lot of current flow going through all of it. If the module has high resistance for some reason this creates a lot of heat, and will start melting things as you've seen. Follow the instructions when installing the new module also.

Check the plug for the module, make sure there's no green corrosion in there and the wires look okay.
