Since there was just work done, chances are something is disconnected on the rear of the vehicle by the fuel tank. I have attached a picture of the hoses and components related to the EVAP system. Take a look at the pic and then inspect those hoses for damage, connection, or like you said, a hole.
I don't know where you live, but if you are in a climate where salt is used to treat the roads in winter, inspect the fuel filler tube from under the vehicle. I have seen them rust.
If you can't find it, the next step is to smoke the system. Basically, fog or smoke is put into the EVAP system and where the leak is, the smoke will exit.
Let me know if any of this helps. Also, if you know specifically what EVAP valve was replaced, it may help me narrow it down for you.
