I just replaced my clutch and thought I had the hydraulic line connected to the transmission, got in truck to try clutch pedal and it was solid no give at all. So like a dummy I applied more pressure then the pedal went to the floor and stayed, I checked and the hydraulic line was not connected correctly. Did I ruin my master cylinder? Or just the bushing connected to the back of the cylinder? What are some ideas of what is the problem?

Hi,

Just so I am clear, when you hooked up the master cylinder you reversed the lines so when you pressed the clutch you put fluid back into the master cylinder?

If this is the case, then you need to pull it apart because this is not a common failure and we could not know what the extent of the "damage" is. Clearly this is not meant to handle pressure coming from that direction so I would either replace it or rebuild it. If it were a system like the AC or some other less important system, then I would say just replace what is needed to make it work. However, due to this is a pretty important system I would not take any risks.

Let me know if I misunderstood something. Thanks

No I didn't reverse the lines. I just didn't have the connection at the transmission hooked up I pulled my master cylinder and the push rods not moving either way. I should be able to push that ride forward and backwards right?

Oh. Okay. Yeah. You should be able to move it in an out. You may need pliers to get a good grip but it should move. Sounds like you found the issue.

I accidentally put the push rod into the back of the clutch master cylinder before I installed it. How do I get the push rod back out so I can install?

It should just pop out because it just pushes in and is held in with tabs.

Can you just take a picture of what you are dealing with so I can get a better understanding?
