Clutch pedal feels fine, but will not release

The clutch worked fine, then I parked for a little bit and came out, started the truck, put in the clutch, and I couldn’t get it into gear. To get home I had to start it in first gear with the clutch barely working then shift into second gear with hardly any release of the clutch. There is a relatively new master cylinder and slave cylinder. Plenty of fluid in the reservoir and the clutch pedal feels fine. No leaks anywhere that I can find.

More then likely you have an issue with the master cylinder, slave cylinder, or throw out bearing. Take a look at the attachment and you will see where they call the slave cylinder the "clutch operation" cylinder, it takes the hydraulic fluid pressure and pushes on the lever that pushes the release bearing. What you are experiencing is when you press the pedal the lever is not getting moved enough and not fully disengaging the clutch.

If it were me, I would try to bleed the clutch and then replace everything including what you have replaced and the pressure plate and clutch disc.

Thanks so much for responding to my question. After looking at the diagram you sent me I think it could possibly be the clutch damper which I did not bleed. Didn’t know anything about that until I saw the diagram. Thanks for sending that. I will let you know if that works after I bleed it tomorrow. Thanks again, Stan
