My car sat for a couple of days with a dead battery. I installed a new battery and found out we needed a new alternator. I had it towed to the mechanic and they replaced the alternator for $685 ($299 Alternator and the rest labor). Got my car back and now the clock, radio, cd player and the overhead light in the front by the windshield does not work! The mechanic called a Nissan dealer to see if there was a reset code on the radio and they said no. The dealer told the mechanic to undo both battery cables and touch them together for five seconds to reset the ECM. We did that and it did not work! Also the two front windows roll up, but not with the single touch you have to hold the button. I do not know if the mechanic shop did not get something hooked back up correctly or if something else is wrong because everything was working before the battery and the alternator issues! Please help so I know who to turn to!

The dealer would not say because they want to charge you money to fix it. This may be in your manual as well. See picture for window reset then check the manual. I cannot find anything for radio reset.

Thank You so very much! I was able to fix the window auto up by myself with your instructions, but on the clock, the radio, cd player and the overhead light by the front windshield, We checked all of the fuses in the car under the dash and did not find a blown fuse, but someone said there is a relay/fuse box under the hood. Do you think all of that could be from a blown relay or fuse from under the hood?

This should all be laid out in your driver's manual, but check fuses 10 and 35 in the fuse box the under hood. It also may tell you how to reset radio after a battery disconnect we have nothing on this.

Hi HMAC300, I have almost the same problem. After replacing the battery, everything works except windows auto roll up and radio/clock display. I fixed windows auto roll up using the procedure you suggested. Thank you so much.
For radio, I also checked the fuses under the console and under the hood, they looked okay, I swapped them out with spares but no luck on the radio. A guy in AutoZone suggested there may be a fuse behind the radio itself? Given I need to take quite a few things out to get there, do you thing it is worth a try? Anything else you suggest I should try?

As additional note, in my case, all internal lights work fine.

Hi,

Is your vehicle the same year make and model? If so, I looked at the wiring schematic for a base radio. It shows a 15amp fuse in the fuse/fusible link box near the battery. I attached a pic below showing the fuse location. Check that fuse. Also, if you have a different stereo system, let me know what you have. Pic 3 shows the options.

One other thing, in addition to checking the fuse, confirm there is power to and from it. Here is a link you may find helpful:

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions. Also, that is the only fuse the schematic shows for that radio,

Take care,
Joe

Thanks Joe. My Nissan Murano is 2014 year model, but I believe it is the same as 2009 one that was addressed in this thread earlier. It just has a base radio (no navigation or Bose).
The fuses I replaced was 19 and 35, but no luck. I will need to buy a multimeter to check the power with and I will update the thread once I do so.

Hi,

Wow, there is a difference. The wiring schematics for a base radio on this vehicle is five pages long. LOL Fuse 35 is the key for powering it. (See pic 1). If you are simply checking for power, you could get a simple test light, but that's your call.

When you checked fuse 35, did you confirm there is power to and from it?

Let me know.

Joe

Hi Joe,

Just as a note on the background, the whole thing started with the battery draining in the garage and the car just clicking repeatedly when I tried to start. I did change the battery and everything worked except the radio and auto rollup windows (I fixed auto windows rollup by the reset procedure in this thread).

I got a multimeter and measured the voltage a both ends of the fuse 35 (through the holes on top) at 13.13V. Also the fuse passes continuity test and shows as 0 ohm in the multimeter. Please let me know if you want me to check anything else.

Thanks

Hi,

There are several resets when removing the battery on this vehicle. I attached a pic below indicating what is required. However, there is nothing with the radio.

When you try turning it on, does it light up?

Let me know.

Joe

Hi Joe,

When I turn it on, nothing happens, no light, no flicker, nothing on the display.

If I turn the car lights on, night back-lights become active, including on the radio buttons, but I assume those may be powered differently.

Just in case, fuse 19, in one of the pictures above, is the audio/mirror fuse under the console right?

Thanks again working through this with me.

Hi,

Fuse 19 is for the accessory systems. That is what powers things when you have the key in the acc position.
