I have a 2004 chrylser sebring gtc convertible. When I go to first crank the car if it has been sitting for about an hr it takes a few seconds to turn over. Its not the battery or the alternatore. Any suggestions to what is the problem?

If you hear one single kind of loud clunk from the starter each time you cycle the ignition switch to "crank", suspect worn contacts in the starter solenoid. It will crank after you try it enough times but it will get progressively worse in the next weeks and months.

The contacts can be replaced for 20 bucks but most people just replace the entire starter. This is a common problem so this is not the time to find a used one from a salvage yard.
