2002 Chrysler Sebring 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 130K K miles

The car was driving ok. After I stopped and accelerated, the car wouldn't go. I pulled over, re-started car and went well but as soon as I braked and then acclerated, the car wouldn't go. After a couple of times of re-starting the engine light came on, so I got it towed. The garage said its the tranny. Is this possible that with no warning, the tranny goes out like that?

When was the last time you check the transmission fluid? It sounds like the tranny is slipping bad before it got towed away
