THIS CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN REPAIRED BY ONE PERSON-THE DEALER. 3-4 wks ago took in due to rattling under front DRIVERS side. Told it was Tired Rod on Front PASSENGER side, also needing new tire and tire rotation for over $900. Still heard rattling now and then(L fr) but started to increase, until wor today-had to be towed. In process, L fr tire & rod(?)
fell off along w/gasket. Dealer said was probably axle.
If we had been anywhere but on our street, we might be dead.
1. Does it appear it was the axle all along and they didn't check?
2. Should we ask for credit on last repair towards this repair?
3. Was told it would cost thousands. Should we fix it?

Hello -

To better assist you is your model the Limited, LX, or LXi and what is the engine size in liter?

So I understand you correctly.......

You heard a rattling on the driver's side but dealer repaired passenger side..... Yes?

On the passenger side they replaced the tie rod, 1 tire and rotated the other tires?

Why did you need to replace the one tire and if worn wear?

You left after the repair still hearing the rattling once in a while.....

It got so bad you stopped driving and called for a tow truck. In the process of towing the drivers side tie rod broke off?

Why did the dealer say it was the axle and if so the left or the right... Were they still talking about the rattle?

So the passenger tie rod, tire was replaced, the driver's side broke off and the dealer says the driver's side axle is bad?

What was the estimate they are giving and to fix what... Please be specific.
