I have taken my car into a repair shop twice for a grinding noise at the front drivers side and it is still grinding. They replace the axle and did two alignments. Any ideas?

Alignments aren't going to solve a grinding noise. That is typically caused by worn brake pads. Have the brakes inspected first.

Noisy wheel bearings are another common source of noise that some people mistakenly describe as grinding. They sound like an airplane engine, and the noise gets louder and higher in pitch as you drive faster. You won't hear brakes grinding at highway speed unless you push the brake pedal.
