AutoZone or any other major parts store will scan your computer for free. The problem is getting your car to the store.
They may possibly rent you a tool. You'll have to call around to check. Other than getting your computer scanned, you could check your engine for the reason it won't start.
Begine by checking for spark. If there's no spark, then you'll have to see why. (Distributor/cap/rotor, plugs/wires)
If there's spark, then check fuel pressure. (Compare gauge reading to spec) Also check that your injectors are firing. If there's no fuel/injectors firing, you'll have to diagnose that system to find out why.
After spark and fuel, you'd normally check compression, but I check the computer and sensors before performing this procedure.
