The problem is when in drive and I put on the breaks to come to a stop the transmission falls out of gear, the harder I break the longer it takes to get back into gear. It doesn't make any weird sounds that I can hear.

It has occasionally in the past and then it would go away on its own, but currently it is not coming on.

I need you to take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free. If the light has been on in the past, there should still be a code stored unless someone reset it.

Let me know what you find.

I have had the battery replaced since the light came on, I understand this would lose any code stored.
