today, my engine light came on and I noticed that the transmission was getting stuck in first gear. the RPM would go to 3000 but wouldnt go back down. My husband said that he thinks that because the transmission filter has not been changed that it could be the problem. could that cause that to happen??

Changing the tranny filter not a bad idea but is it going to help!!
I dont think it will ,
I believe is more sensor on the tranny and codes is needed to determine if so
or what
try and cycle the key on off on off on read in odometer area P0000 codes
if any
or use an OBDII reader and check for codes
most common cause is a speed sensor on the tranny
