after a couple of jumpstarts, the dash lights now dont work, i noticed also the tach needle is behind the peg

What model do you have? To reset the tach, just give the engine a momentary spurt over half scale. The computer will move the magnetic pointer the shortest distance to its proper position, then it will follow engine speed back down.
