2000 Chrysler Neon 4 cyl Automatic
My daughter drove her car through a large puddle (stupid girl) and her car stalled and wouldn't start. We towed it home took off the hoses, sucked out extra water out of the engine block, air compressed the inside until safe to take a look at the spark plugs (one was almost covered with H2O before we sucked the H2O out but dry on the end plugged in) No water noticed in the oil. The engine is cranking but not catching/firing. The wires going to the starter started smoking the other day when we were trying to start it and her battery was going dead from trying to start. Hooked it up to a battery charger overnight and tried it again this morning but its still not firing. It is cranking but no smoking wires. She paid $3000.00 for this car a month ago (3 days after she bought it started to act up) and since has spent over $500.00 as she had to replace the cam sensor, battery clamps and had wiring done as she was having trouble with it not starting all the time. She'd get one thing fixed then it would do it again. Changing the cam sensor seemed to fix the problem. But then she went and did this. Is it worth changing the starter or has she screwed herself/car by driving through that puddle?
