seems to slip and shudder when taking off like clutch is slipping when car is off and running it is fine. There is also a clonking noise when I change into gear

I am hoping your problem is just low transmission fluid or bad axles, check fluid and top off, also you may want to have the fluid changed and filter too. If that doesnt solve the problem, I have to say, you have a faulty band inside the tranny
