engine light comes on after replacing altenator

I just replaced an altenator on my 1997 chrysler concorde lxi mileage 110,000 miles the engine light comes on once and awhile every couple of weeks just wondering what causes this to happen

You need to read the message that your car is trying to tell you .

Get the codes that will help

Turn the ignition key 3 times on off ending with the key on
Look at the odometer it will display P code
