What's the name of this part? It's approx 1/2" diameter hard plastic "hose" that goes into the top of the mass air flow sensor assembly; coming from somewhere in the back of the engine. You have to disconnect this hose to take out the MAF.

What causes the MAF to become dirty? I clean mine about once a month, rather than replacing it. What's to say a new one won't get dirty & cause the same problem (engine stutter)?

Stop at your local dealer and have them look up the part for you. Then can get you the name. Are you replacing your air filter when its time to replace it? That should block the debris from coming into the MAF sensor
