flywheel crack

auto 99 chevy venture, 117,000 miles 3.4L
what would cause a fly wheel to crack (straight crack)? trans. replaced 9-06 with junkyard bought one by dealer. could they have done something wrong replacing it?

If it's a manual transmission, could be it was too thin, or warped. Flywheels are machined to give a swirl finish for the clutch...if it auto, usually just stress!

i agree... by it being an auto, stress/tension could cause the crack. usually flywheels/flex plates bolt up only one way. if it is cracked, make sure the next one is bolted down to the right spec and that it is evenly torqued in a star pattern to prevent any binding.
