With engine running and warmed up, I'll turn on the A/C. I can hear the A/C compressor kick in for about 2 seconds, then it "kicks out" for about 5 seconds... then, it kicks in again for about 2 seconds, and then it kicks out for about 5 seconds. This goes on and on till I shut off the A/C.

With all of this, slightly cooler air does come from the vent, but certainly not what has been in the past.

Never had any issues with the A/C in the past.

Is there some type of relay or "switch" that needs to be replaced?

Many thanks!
Rob

Sounds more like it needs to be recharged!

you are low on freon. Need to refill and find the leak. Your cycling switch is turning the compressor on and off.

You might have a leak, but there is normal leakage in all auto a/c of an acceptable level, don't know off the top of my head what the limit for yours is, but after 16 years of service, I am not surprised that it needs a bit of refilling!

Many thanks!! Perhaps I've been lucky with this van; this is the first issue I've encountered.

Thank you for your quick and very timely responses! Now that you have provided me with some knowledge, this will certainly make my visit to the "garage" more tolerable!

Regards,
Rob
