Electrical problem
2000 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi I just purchased this truck so I dont know much about it yet. The previous owner had a flat bed on it for a while and just put the bed back on to sell it. But the problem is that the passanger tail light dont work, as well as either brake light when the pedel is pressed. I have taken apart the tail light assembly and check all the bulbs, tested the circuit board the bulbs go into, they are all fine. I crawled under the truck with a test light and tested power at the harness connection, its not getting power from there either. I also un bolted the ground and cleaned it up too. Why would one tail light work but not the other? How would I go about fixing this? And the brake lights? Oh and the back up lights dont work either. Is there some switches I need to replace? Thanx for whatever help you can offer. Chris.

Welcome to the forum, the lite blue wire is voltage for the right stop lamp. Have a helper step on the brake, use a test lite to see if voltage on that wire. If no voltage, there is a vehicle stop fuse in the underhood fuse box. Not only check the fuse, use a testlite on the fuse circuit, to see if it is hot, the brake has to applied.

You can also, check the circuits to and from the brake lamp switch. The switch should be close to brake pedal arm. The orange wire feeds voltage to brake switch. When the switch is activated, the white wire carries voltage from the switch for stop lamps.
