I drove my truck just the other day and now tried to start it and it would crank over, I can hear the fuel pump run, fuel pressure was checked and with the key on, it resistered 50psi. When we turned over the key the pressure dropped off. I want to said to zero but for sure to 40, not sure because I wasnt the one reading the gauge and its been awhile but before I replace the fuel pump I wanted to get a second opinion in case it may be some else. Please help!

You need to reconfirm the fuel pressure it should not drop within 5mins to zero -if so you're losing pressure due to injector/s sticking open/pressure regulator and fuel pump check valve.

Try this remove the gas cap listen to the fuel pump-while a helper turn key to On. When the fuel pump stops for that 2secs do you hear a trickling sound inside if so you have a problem with the Pulsator inside the tank.

The fuel pressure is just going back to the tank and not priming the injector/s.

To confrim it cycle the key a few times to build pressure and see if it will fire up the 1st time.
