Working on a 1998 3/4 ton 4X4 Chevy Silverado with a 7.4L My truck starts instantly when cold (left over night) but after I run it a few miles and shut it off it will not refire unless I hold the peddle to the floor. Any ideas on this one? My fuel pressure seems low and I would like to check the fuel pump for Volume. Is it pumping enough gas? My question is... How can I check that and what should that volume be?

Hello, you need a fuel pressure gage, to do testing. My generic info says it should pump a quart in 30 seconds or less. I don't know the easiest place to access for a volumn test. I'd probably remove the fuel filter, aim the line into a proper container, energize the pump. With a volumn test, I've seen them fill up an empty tall-boy beer can real fast, but the pressure was half of what it should have been.
