First you need a voltage meter set to DC volts.
There are three wires on the TPS. One is the ground (black) one is the 12 or 5 volt (gray or pink) and one is the signal wire (dark blue). Now, turn the key on but do not start the engine -- back probe the dark blue wire with the positive probe and connect the negitive up to a good engine ground -- open the TB and observe the meter. The voltage should go up and down ( according to throttle position) SMOOTHLY -- with no "hiccups". If the voltage hiccups or is going crazy -- the TPS is bad.
