Electrical problem
1995 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

in our most recent snow storm I got into a crash trying to avoid another car spinning out. I hit a concrete pillar head on which broke the bumper in the middle and smashed my grill. But other than that nothing appeared to be wrong. No fluids leaking, shifting fine, etc.
several days later, I was driving down a rough road and hit a pothole, instantly my battery gauge and speedometer stopped working, and of course since the speedometer stopped working the transmission wont shift. I found the gauges fuse popped, and replaced it. After which everything started working fine for a couple days, then it popped again, and now pops instantly when I replace it and turn the key. I can't seem to find the short anywhere.
Also, today I started the truck and pulled it forward, which worked fine, though still not shifting out of first, but when I put it in reverse, the engine died after several seconds, this is the first time that has happened. Could this also be related to the wiring short? And any idea where I might find said short? Thanks for you help!

Check to be sure none of the power leads off the battery are rubbing anything. Has the damage been repaired or is there a possibility of something pinched in the body

The damage has been removed, as in no bumper and no grill, but the new parts have not been put on yet. It was my original assumption that something was pinched behind the bumper so I looked pretty hard and couldn't find anything. I just looked again, and it doesn't appear that the battery leads are touching anything.

Check the DRL(daytime running lights) wiring to be sure it isnt pinched. That circuit feeds - DRL relay, headlamp/dimmer, audio alarm module, instrument cluster, DRL module, diagnostic energy reserve module, electro-chromic mirror, remote keyless entry module, Vehicle speed sensor buffer module. You will have to star unplugging things until the fuse wont pop, really the only way to find a short like this
