My truck just started shutting off. With the truck running, and in gear, if you turn on the headlites the truck will shut off. If you catch it quickly and turn the lites off it will run normal. I have checked the battery, alternator, wires and grounds with no luck. It almost acts like the lite switch might have a short. This just happened. As long as I don't use the lites it runs fine. Battery-12.5volts, alternator-14.2 volts. When the lites are turned on you hear the alternator really pull down. I haved changed battery, and alternator with no help. Any suggestion?

Sounds like a dead short somewhere. Any trailer wiring? Start there. This is something a meter will help with, truck off, use the meter to check continuity to ground on the POWER wires in the light circuit. Remove all bulbs and unhook all headlights, like htis, the power wires shouldnt have a continuity to ground, when you find one that does, it is most likely the problem
