I tried to replace my PCV valve but I was confused to where it was. According to my haynes manual I located it and screwed it out- it was a plastic casing attached to the valve covers.

the plastic casing was empty and the pcv valve I bought couldnt fit into it

what is going on? Did I get the location wrong? Am I looking at something completely different? I noticed the plastic casing I screwed off has oil on it and is attached to a hose

please help

First, pcv valve pushes in it does not screw in, second it connects to a hose directly

Lets see if I can help.I have a 91 corsica with 2.2L On the left side of the car, passenger side, On top of the valve cover there is a hose that leads towards the fire wall you'll find the PCV valve plugged into it.
