1988 Chevy Truck eletrical short somewhere

Im having electrical problems tested the battery it ok replaced the positive cable down to the starter yesterday when I tried to start engine it fryed the starter and solerinod. Replaced the starter today the truck still want turn over. Where would I begin to troubleshoot the problem. It seems to be a positive wire somewhere grounding out. How do I find it

Disconnect the NEGATIVE cable first. Then carefully look where positive cable goes. See if other cables connected to the starter are hitting the block or exhaust manifold. Then check for having burnt fusible links that connect to the starter. That is probably why it won't start.
