I noticed on start up from a stop light when I stepped on the gas there was a hesitation and loss of power, and the truck finally died and did not restart what could be the problem.

Hi there,

You will have to check for fuel pressure, spark at the plugs to start with. If you can do a Scan to check for any fault codes as well start there.
