I took my 1997 Chevy Suburban to the dealer and they replaced the water pump. The car has 230,000 miles on it, Vortec 454 engine. They charged me for 7 and 1/2 hours of labor, the total bill was $1100. This sounds just a little steep! What do you think? Oh, and when I got it home, it was still not right, so I replaced the radiator cap (which had a bad seal as it turns out) so I'm not sure if it even needed a water pump. But even if it did, from what I can find out, labor should have been about 3 hours.
