If the check engine light has been on, there will be a trouble code stored in the computer that will help identify the problem. If you take the car to a nationally recognized parts store, they will scan it for you. Most will do it for free.
Since the light is on, chances are it is a sensor that is the problem and not the fuel pump. Regardless, here is a how to for checking fuel pressure. Most parts stores will lend or rent the gauge needed. Check out this video and the directions. I'm sure they will help. If you have questions, let me know. Also, let me know what you find when they scan the computer. That way we may be able to eliminate checking the fuel pressure.
