Dear Sir,
I own a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD with approximately 140,000 miles and a 6.0 liter V8 and automatic trans. My truck was broken into and was almost stolen, good thing my neighbor was home! After the attempted theft, my trucks a/c fans will not come on, windshield wipers do not work, fuel and engine temp guages do not work, and my odometer/gear position indicator only comes on when the ignition is 1 click forward. Any advice that you could offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Well The theif must of known about the factory theft deterrent device in your truck called PASS-LOCK. This system is basicaly designed to stop a theif from jamming a different key or a screwdriver or something like that, into the ignition switch and start the engine. Let me explain breifly how this system basicaly works. The ignition switch has a resistor in it. This resistor has a specific value, and this resistance value is unique to only your truck. Your key and only your key has certain chacteristics designed into it that triggers this resistor. When you turn the key--the PASS-LOCK module sees the resistor and then allows the fuel pump to operate. I think this would-be theif knew about this system and tried to by-pass this resistor (which can be done) and pulled out or loosened some of the wires under your dash--probably up and under the steering colume--Did you catch the him?
