Hello - I have a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado, 4.3 V6 with 180,000 miles.

When accelerating, I get a lot of hesitation and if I press the gas too much at this point, it actually pops or "backfires". Also, sometimes when I kill the truck, it "diesels" or "runs on" for a bit before stalling. From time to time it will also die on me. I have changed: PCV valve, plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter checked for operation. I have been told to change the module under my distributor and the EGR valve. I'm feeling like by the time I find this problem, every changeable part on my truck will be new LOL. Hoping someone here can give me some input.

Thanks :)

There is one thing that comes to mind when I read this and that would be timing? backfire and run-on are symptoms of timing being too far advanced, if that is okay these trucks had problems with the fuel pump. Here is a guide to help you test it which it should above 48 PSI.

Here is how to change the fuel pump pout if you find the pressure being low. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes
