My 05 silverado is skipping, I replaced the plugs, wires and cap. Most people are telling me it sounds like a fuel supply problem. Since there is no in line fuel filter I was thinking of removing the fuel tank to check for water or dirt. Could fuel pressure be the problem? Any other ideas?

If there is no light coming on, most likely the sensors are working. It could be related to fuel pump pressure. I would start there before removing the tank. Here is a how to for checking pressure. Check it and let me know what you find.

Thanks for talking me out of pulling the tank. The fuel pressure ended up being good, I tried replacing the coil and control module. The problem ended up being the crank shaft sensor.

Glad to help. Removing the tank is a pain and I wouldn't recommend it unless I was sure. As far as the crank sensor, it is interesting that it should set the check engine light. But for some reason, many times they don't.

Let us know if you have questions in the future. Also, when an engine doesn't start, always check to make sure it has spark and fuel before moving on to other items.

Take care,
Joe
