My oil pressure gauge has recently started reading 80psi all the time. When I turn on the key it goes to 80 and when I start the engine it briefly goes to zero and then back to 80 again. The oil level is good and I see no leaks.

Is this an indication that the sending unit is bad or something else?

That is where I would start, the oil sending unit.

Let me know if it takes care of the problem.

After finding a drawing that shows the location of the sending unit I attempted to put my hands on it and maybe unplug the cable to see if that made a difference in the gauge. WOW!

The EOP sensor is located at the back of the motor behind and below the intake manifold and associated fuel injection stuff (actually under the cowl) and can't be seen. I was able to touch it, but removing the plug or the unit itself looks to be impossible without removing the intake manifold. I wonder how many hours a dealer gets to do this work?

This looks like more than I can do.

Are you able to access it from under the vehicle?
