My truck sat for a week and I started it alright but the dash gauges are not working. I drove the truck home and tried starting and there is nothing. It will not start or nothing electrical will work. Do I have to exchange the battery and will this solve all the problems?

First, using a volt gauge, check the battery to see how much power is being produced. If it is dead, try to recharge it, take it in and have it load tested at a parts store. If it's bad, replace it. However, this doesn't sound like the battery.

Check all fuses under the hood to make sure none are bad. Also, was the battery light on?

Thank you for your suggestions but I needed a new battery anyway since it was six years old. I replace it and everything is fine.

Great! I'm glad that fixed it. I questioned it because a battery will not usually go dead that fast. Regardless, thanks for using 2carpros. Com, and let us know if you have questions in the future.
