When I crank my truck up in the mornings or while it's been sitting for a while, it ticks like a valve is not getting oiled. Could it be my screen on the oil pump clogged or the oiling galleries stopped up. My motor is a Chevy 5.3 vortec, 1999, 4x4. The oil pressure is around 40 to 42 lbs, but it's dropped down to 36 lbs. Can you give me some advise on me repairing it myself. Thanks !

No not plugged oil screen. I bet you will find that it is not actually a engine tick but a exhaust leak where the front pipe bolts to the manifolds. When the pipe heats up and expands the noise goes away, it will sound exactly like a bad lifter. All you have to do is replace the y pipe gaskets.
