I need to replace the fuel pump, but 1st I need to drain the gas tank. I tried to get a hose in the spout to drain it, but it won't go in more that 1.5 feet. Is there a screen in my way, and if so, how to I get rid of it so I can pump the gas out?

If you don't have a camper on it, the easy way to access the pump is to remove the bed. It is not heavy and after removing the mounting bolts you should be able with a couple of friends lift it up and move it back after you disconnect the filler neck. It only has to go back about two feet and you should have access to the fuel pump make sure you have a fire extinguisher ready when you break into the tank. Clean all the dirt off before opening the tank. It is really hard to siphon gas because of the anti siphon devices in the neck. If you don't have enough reach in the tailight wireing, unplug at frame.
