1996 Chevy Silverado Volt gauge up and down

Well this has been an issue for about 1 yr volt gauge will be at 14 volts then down to ten or 11 volts then back up to 14 volts has new battery new altenator truck has never seen the mud engine compartment is like looking at a new one but will not help this problem I am at a lost thanks shad

I would first have the alt output checked when it is showing low voltage. Also, if it is good, start looking for bad grounds, make sure the ground to the engine block is clean and tight.

Let me know what you find. NOTE: If you have it checked when it is showing low voltage, you will know if the alt is doing its job or there is a different problem.

@shad722005. Did you ever find out what the problem was with your volt gauge? I'm having the same problem now.
