The fuses for the brake and turn signal blow. I replace the stop light fuse and the brake lights work until the fuse blows again. I replace the turn signal fuse and the turn signals still do not work then the fuses blows again. The 4 way flashers still work whether the fuses are good or not. This truck has a tilt wheel. Is there a history of the harness in the column shorting out due to the years of use of moving the wheel up and down? If you feel the source of the trouble is not in the steering column what is the most likely source of the trouble?

The brake lights go through the turn signal switch, so if you are having an issue with both, it is probably the turn signal switch that is shorting.A new switch comes with wiring to the bottom of the column. If you do this yourself, tie a long piece of wire to the bottom plug before you pull it up through the column, that way you can tie off and use it to pull the new wiring down the column, makes it much easier
