My truck had a blown headgasket, my friend fixed this problem. My problem is I set the timing @ 0 then pluged the ing bypass wire back in and it wont advance and run right. Its like the computer is not working right, or could the chip be bad? Is there some place I can have the pcm or chip tested? Thanks for your help.

Most shops can check the PCM, but if it worked correctly before, chances are it is still fine.

Are you sure the timing chain was good or if replaced, was it set correctly?

Let me know,
Joe

Thanks Joe, The truck blew the gasket and the died. My friend fixed that problem, and when he drove it back in town it worked fine, when I got to drive it it started to act up, not firing right I drove it home and it quit running. I found the dis module was bad and replace it, then I set the timing with the dis bypass unhooked, when I connect the bypssa back up it runs but with no advance timming, and spudders and backfires. Looking at nthe wiring dia a signal wire is comming off the dis module back to the pcm, when I think it reads this signal and takes over the timing, but it is not doing it. The timing belt was never never took off, as far as I know. Thanks again Joe.

Check the wire to PCM for continunity. Make sure where it plugs in, there is no damage or corrosion. You should be getting a signal from the PCM to advance timing.
Let me know what you find.
