By using HHO (Hydroxy), it is possible to increase your MPG.
Hydrogen has 3 times the power of gasoline. In theory, you should be able to use Hydroxy and trim your fuel consumption by 2/3.
There are a lot of people out there that claim it works and companies that guarantee an installed system (for $2000) will give you at least 50% increase in MPG.
If you want to see their claim, google wave tv and start looking.
I have yet to see it work.
Also, I have a Scangauge II. It does tell you some information. Instant MPG and average MPG as well as reading codes and clearing them.
