Transmission problem
1999 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 143.00 miles

My question is. The reverse went out on my truck probaly 2 months ago approximately. I am still driving it but the shifting is rough. I have learned from driving it how to shift by letting off easy when it needs to shift.I had a friend hook it on a machine and he said it is totally skipping 3rd and 4th gears.

Now. Another friend got under the truck yesterday and told me the neutral saftery switch is broke with wires hanging and some of it was missing. He wasn't sure though if this had anything to do with the reverse being out? I have had a problem with the truck every so often acting like it's not going to start. It always does but sometimes it takes quite a few tries. It also drags a little when trying to start it even though I have replaced the starter and the alternator. Please help if you can. I'm a single mom who don't have extra money to spend on this truck unless I know it's going to fix one or two of there problems. Thank-you-DeeDee

Dee dee unfortunately if you have no reverse then you must have internal problems. The neutral switch that is hanging on side of trans will affect how it shifts gears in drive and how it starts. The plugs are usually glued into neutral switch and you need a heat gun to get plugs undone. Check battery terminals and ground on engine block for the dragging starter and also make sure alternator is reading 14 volts when running. Hope this helps
