In a no start therre are 3 issues at hand, fuel fire and air. It's an old saying you might have heard.
Of course there can be issues like if the distributor rotor is 180 degrees off and firing on exhaust stroke. Most distributors don't allow the rrrotor to bee installed that way, just an example.
So, you are probably getting air. When you checked the plugs, was it after you tried starting it? Were they wet with gas?
Did you do anything to it before it would not start? Let me know what you have checkerd as far as spark and fuel supply and even a dirty air filter.
