I have a 99 s-10 with 188000 miles and my drivers side upper ball joint broke (the ball broke through the side of the ball joint housing) I was able to revmoe the part that was rivited to the upper control arm but have been unable to remove the stud from the knuckle. I have heated it up and that didn't help any either. I also have cut the actual ball off with a grinder as shown in the photo and have drilled out aprox. A 3/16 hole thruogh the bolt and yet it still wont budge. You can barely see where I outlined the actual stud with a marker If the pic. Downloaded

This is very easy. What you have to do is get a big hammer and hit where the stud goes into the spindle, it will pop out rather easily. You have to hit it hard. Hope this helps
