The truck wont start. It has a new battery (1month old) and when you turn the key, it sounds like the starter spins but doesnt "engage" or something. The engine isnt turning (maybe a teeny bit), but the starter definitely sounds like its just spinning. Does this sound like a bad starter, or maybe solenoid? If so, is this a relatively easy repair on this truck? Any help is greatly apprieciated - THANKS!

Hello,

It sounds like you have a faulty starter.
When a starter appears to spin but not turn the engine then it is likely have a faulty Bendix. So when the starter spins it does not engage and turn the flywheel to start the engine.

Replacing the starter is not very difficult on this vehicle. It can be done in a relatively short period of time.
You will have to raise the vehicle and secure it on jack stands to be able to access the starter easily from the bottom. There are 2 bolts that holds the starter in place.

I have attached replacement instructions for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
