Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 196k miles

i was driving down the highway and my truck started to lose speed. Then it shut off on me.I popped open the hood and my radiator had a crack and was smoking. It turns over but there is no compression.I know the basics but not a pro.I checked the timing chain(which was a pain in the ass to get to) but it is ok. Could it be that I blew a head gasket or cracked the head?Maybe it over heated and got water in the oil.I dont know what could be wrong.I want to put a newer motor v6 in it soon to. Any sugguestions as to which motor would fit best and perform good to. Im looking to get about 300+ hp at the wheels. You can email me at twistedindividul@aol. Com

Is there any compression at all?

As far as engine replacement, we recommend that you stay with a direct fit replacement. When you start changing years. You end up with problems.
