Brakes problem
1998 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive

put new drum pads on. When I hit the brakes they will make a clicking sound wht could be wrong. Do I need to go under and adjust the brake closer to the drum?

HI:
Are you refering to brake shoes (REAR)? First, if you hear a clanking sound, make sure everything is intact like springs, hold downs, self adjuster.

If everything is ok, adjust the rear brakes until you get a drag on the tire when spinning it by hand. After both sides have a drag, press the brake pedal a couple times. This will center the shoes. Now check for drag again. If the tires spin freely, adjust them again until they have a drag again. After this they should be properly adjusted.

Let me know if this helps.

Joe
