My 1997 chevy s10 is difficult to start, once it does (after 10-15 minutes of trying), the rpms jump to over 5000, it's like the gas pedal is being pressed to the floor (which it is not), I checked for vacuum leaks and faulty cables but did not find anything, pumping the gas pedal does not cause the rpms to come down, any help is appreciated

Hello, just a thought, you might try blocking the iac passages, see if it makes any difference. I don't recommend using your finger. Don't use anything that might get sucked up. You could also try unplugging the tps then try to start.

As far as the hard starting, check fuel pressure. Those spider fuel systems are known for problems.
